II Chronicles 7:14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

What does my future hold?

Today I received an e-mail from my boss (the doctor I transcribe for) telling me that my last day will be Dec. 31. He is going to EMR (electronic medical records) and will no longer need my services.
---insert a 'just-got-punched-in-the-stomach' feeling right here---
Okay, well...that means that in exactly 37 days our income is going to decrease significantly.
A part of me wants to completely freak out at the idea of that. We are hardly making ends meet as it is right now, but this means we will have to live on about $700-$1,000 less than we are used to!
Oh. My. Gosh.

PRAISE THE LORD that my trust and my hope is in HIM and not in my circumstances. He is Jehovah Jirah, my provider! HE is my source and my very present help in time of need.

The question I guess I have right now is: Do I sit back and "have faith" and just see what God does in this situation as I pray and seek His will?? Or...do I start 'taking matters into my own hands' and looking for another job?

As most of you know, I've been pursuing fitness instructing recently and I've been very sure that it is God's way of preparing me for something else. Maybe this is "my time." Oh, I hope so! Anyway, I'm not posting this to get sympathy from anyone. I'm posting it because...well...for one, I'm pretty much an open book and there's not much I "hide"...but also because I would love for you all to agree with me in faith for an even better opportunity to come my way! You are all such wonderful friends! Thanks!

Oh and..HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! in case I don't get to post again before then! Remember how much you have to be thankful for!

Maybe you can lean on God and let his plans unfold AND still look for employment. Just continue to pray, while you are looking, that God will open doors that should be opened and close the doors that should be closed...and then, if for some reason, he closes one you really wanted open...just walk away and trust that the door that WILL be open is a perfect match! I am agreeing with you and praying for God's peace during this time...sometimes the hardest thing we battle is getting our soul (mind, will, and emotions) to line up with our words and faith!!! I know my God loves you and has an amazing story written for you! Love ya!

In the natural that's a big bummer. But like we've been talking about, God has plans, and they don't always look like they make sense and we wonder why we have to go through those difficulties...but know this...they will make you stronger and you WILL look back someday and see how it all worked out to fit a greater (better plan than u could ever think of).
as far as recommendations go... have faith, pray, and believe God will direct you. Listen to his voice. AND put your hand to the plow. I always believe action is required on our part. We can have faith, yet still partake in "putting food on the table". Read lots of Proverbs for back up here if you need to. Love you, and I know God will help you prevail. I know this is a big change for you. Remember there isn't only instructing, but some of your friends may want to give away some of their doctors (you'll never know if u don't ask , right?). Maybe there is even parttime work at the kids' schools as an assistant? (Remember that's what Becky does) then it coincides with the kids' schedules too. anyway, just some ideas that come to mind for now. Keep your chin up and this just reiterates that budgeting is going to be important for this season, so stay focused on that too. and I'll try to cut out the cookies too ;)

Oh Jen ... I know all too well what a scary feeling that is. But keep the Faith. God DEFINITELY has a plan for you and it will reveal itself in time. It sounds like fitness is where you're being directed. And bonus ... you love it!! You may also be eligible for unemployment even though you're teaching classes. Seriously. Check into that with your state job and family services. And I will keep you in my prayers as you move forward. Hang in there! XOXO

Hmmmm...lets see....GOD started you on this fitness instructor path, knowing you'd be losing your job in December...think he was preparing you, and opening a door for you, into a totally new career??? Sounds like it to me. :) Hang in there sweetie! I'm praying that he will continue to open the doors of opportunity for you.

I agree with K.C. Our office goes to EMR on Tuesday and unfortunately that means some staff that was once needed are no longer. Technology is great until it affects people in a negative light. But then there are other positions created from new things. Like fitness instructing. Go for it, God will meet you there.
