Our waiter's sang Happy Anniversary to us and put a candle in our dessert that night. (It's our 8 year anniversary this month!)
I bet you guys are getting tired of hearing me talk about my upcoming vacation...but sorry...that's about all I can think about! It's so exciting! We will be leaving Saturday afternoon and will board the ship around 2 pm on Sunday. It's crazy trying to figure out what all clothes to take. We will be gone for 8 days and I don't really know for sure what the weather will be. Hopefully warm because we are mostly taking shorts and t-shirts. I plan on coming home with a really good tan--so it better be warm!
Today Brooklyn brought home her report card from school. She got all "S's" for "satisfactory" except for two "p's" for "progressing". (S is the best you can get.) Her teacher said she always has a positive attitude and beautiful smile and has lots of friends and that she is doing very well academically. Way to Go Brooklyn!
Well, that's all for now...Matt and I need to go and finish up our taxes. Later!
One Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Alex standing in the foyer of the church staring up at a large plaque. It was covered with names with small American flags mounted on either side of it. The seven year old had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up, stood beside the little boy, and said
quietly, "Good morning Alex." Good morning Pastor," he replied, still focused on the plaque. "Pastor, what is this?" he asked the pastor. The pastor said, "Well, son, it's a memorial to all the young men and women who died in the service." Soberly, they just stood together, staring at the large plaque. Finally, little Alex's voice, barely audible and trembling with fear, asked, "Which service, the 9:45 or the 11:15 ?"

A man walks into a drug store with his 8-year old son. They happen to walk by the condom display, and the boy asks, "What are these, Dad? To which the man matter-of-factly replies, "Those are called condoms, son. Men use them to have safe sex."
"Oh I see," replied the boy pensively. Yes, I've heard of that in health class at school." He looks over the display and picks up a package of 3 and asks, "Why are there 3 in this package?" The dad replies, "Those are for high school boys, ONE for Friday, ONE for Saturday, and ONE for Sunday." "Cool" says the boy. He notices a 6 pack and asks, "Then who are these for?"
"Those are for college men," the dad answers, TWO for Friday, TWO for Saturday, and TWO for Sunday." "WOW!" exclaimed the boy, "then who uses THESE?" he asks, picking up a 12 pack.
With a sigh and a tear in his eye, the dad replied, "Those are for married men. ONE for January, ONE for February, ONE for March....."

We all sat down and did play-dough tonight. I think the kids really enjoyed having our undivided attention for a little while...and we had fun too!

What a muggy Saturday we are having! It keeps raining on and off--even though the sun is shining and it's warm out. Actually, even though it's kinda of moist and humid, the sunshine is nice and the rain is needed, so I guess we are pretty lucky.
Anyway, we've had a busy 24 hours. After Matt got home from work last night, Kendra came over to babysit for us and we went to the mall to look for some new clothes to take with us on the cruise. Matt ended up finding a really cute outfit and flip-flops at American Eagle. When we got out of there, we only had 10 minutes until the mall closed so I ran down to the Buckle and tried on one pair of Lucky shorts and one shirt...both of which I loved and he bought for me. (that's like the fasting shopping I've ever done!!) After that we went to Khols and he found some more new clothes and some VERY CUTE shoes. They are really funky and not his "normal" style...but I Love them! I got a pair of khaki shorts and 2 nighty's that were on clearance. Kendra ended up staying the night with us last night so we headed out again this morning--this time with Brooklyn--and went to Academy and Old Navy. Matt found some cute swimming trunks that coincidently match my swimsuit (cool!) and I got 6 pairs of flip-flops for $15.00. I also took back a jean skirt that I had ordered online at American Eagle that was too big and exchanged it for another jean skirt. It is extremely short, but it really doesn't look THAT short once it's on. I am just not used to showing off that much leg. Brooklyn also found a cute t-shirt at Old-Navy that she has already changed in to.
So, I think we are all set (clothes-wise) anyway for the cruise. We are both tanning every day this next week to hopefully get some good color before we leave. I am already pretty dark but I've been going for a week now. It's amazing how much better you tan when you use good lotion! Now if I can just drop about 5 pounds before next Sunday, I'll be REALLY happy! ha ha...it's always something else!
Right now, Matt and Grant ran to the grocery store to pick up some charcoal so we can grill some steaks for dinner. Hopefully I will finish painting Brooklyn's room tonight and then tomorrow I will be doing some MAJOR cleaning around here to get ready for my Pampered Chef show on Monday. (Did I tell you I was doing a show Amy?)
Well, I hear the garage door opening so they must be back. I better go and get the baked potatoes and salad ready! Have a good night!
HOORAY! I won "Most Wins" at Bunco tonight so I got $15.00! Now I can get my tootsie's done. Hopefully I'll be able to find a good place. I've only had 2 pedicures in my lifetime and neither of them were worth the money.
If it weren't for the fact that I want that french manicure thing done, I'd just do them myself...but I don't think I can get my feet close enough to my face to draw a perfectly straight line, so I better leave it to a professional. Anyway, there's laundry to do, kids to put to bed and work to be done, so I better get off here.
Oh, and we watched American Idol while we played Bunco tonight. Poor Ayla.
Hi everyone!
It's nearly a miracle....but it's actually raining here! Yeah! It's been a very looooooong time since we've had rain so I hope it keeps on-a-comin'! Especially because we have a big bonfire planned for next weekend and without a lot of rain, we won't be able to have it. Hopefully we get enough for them to lift the burn-ban.
Anyway, tonight is my Bunco night. I meet with 11 other ladies and we eat, talk and play Bunco and it's a nice opportunity to have a little grown-up time. I am really hoping I will win a prize tonight because I could use the extra money. If I win the big prize ($30, I think) I am going to treat myself to a pedicure/maincure before we go on the cruise. If I win a smaller prize, maybe I can just get a pedicure. I am wanting to try the french manicure thing on my toes, I think. I can't even remember the last time I saw my toes un-painted for more than the minute or two it takes me to take off the old polish and put on the new. Matt has never seen my toenails without paint on them! Weird, huh? It's one of my quirks, I guess. It goes right along with the one that says I must have perfectly silky smooth legs at ALL times! ha ha. I am fanatical about that! If you could ask my best friend (during my pre-teen and teenage years) she'd tell you that I couldn't handle for her to spend the night and sleep in my bed if she hadn't JUST shaved her legs. Just the thought of her prickly leg touching me gives me the heebie-jeebies!! I actually shave at least once a day, oftentimes twice a day and occasionally...three times a day!!! Yep! My poor legs! You'd think they'd be extremly dry but I mix up my own secret combination of baby-oil gel and Vaseline Inensive Care lotion that makes them feel moist and satiny all the time! At least my hubby doesn't have to worry about sleeping with a porcupine!
Anyway, where did all that come from? Who knows! I actually started this post planning to talk about my up-coming cruise! It's only 10 days until we set sail! HOORAY! I am getting really excited now! Last night I sat down with 16 brown paper bags and labeled one for Brooklyn and one for Grant for each day that we are going to be gone. I am writing little notes to them and giving them little "surprises" so that they will feel like we are thinking about them even while we are gone. It is going to be so weird to be away from them for 8 whole days!!! I just hope I can focus on the fun that Matt and I are having and not miss them too much!
Well, I better get up off my booty and get things done around the house before I have to leave for my girls-night-out! Somebody e-mail me and tell me who gets cut from American Idol tonight since I am missing it, okay?
Matt and I had fun outside today too. It's amazing how enjoyable just throwing a frisbee or a ball back and forth can be!
