This weekend I rented The Devil Wears Prada. I know the title sounds bad...but really...the movie has nothing to do with the actual devil. Anne Hathaway (Princess Diaries) and Meryl Streep star in this materialistic, fasionista movie about playing dirty to get ahead. Meryl Streep plays Miranda, the Editor/Producer of a fashion magazine called Runway. She hires the frumpy and very un-fashionable Andi (Anne Hathaway) to be her personal assistant (or more like her slave). Miranda seemingly has no integrity and proudly admits that in this game...you have to cheat others to get what you want. Thus the name of the movie...The Devil Wears Prada....her being the "devil." Andi on the otherhand, won't succumb to the malicious and kniving ways of her boss Miranda and while she does change some things (she trades in her geeky clothes for the high-fashion, runway threads the models are wearing), in the end, she proves that being moral and honest are the REAL ways to get ahead in life. This is definitely a chick-flick and probably not something your hubby will love...but definitely worth renting for a night in with the girls.

Moody?
Yesterday my mom bought Brooklyn a mood bracelet and a mood ring. Today at church, Brooklyn asked me to wear her bracelet while she was playing so it wouldn't get broken or lost. It has 3 stars on it that show your "mood". We left the little card that tells you what colors mean which moods at my parent's house...but I know one means happy, one means relaxed, one means sad, and so on... Well, today as I was wearing her bracelet, I looked down and glanced at the little stars and instead of seeing one color....EACH star had a different color. One was purple, one green and one was blue! So there you have it...Proof that I am completely and utterly confused. Ha Ha I know my mind races a million different directions all the time but this bracelet seemed like a funny little symbol of how I honestly feel most of the time. At any one moment, I can effortlessly be provoked to anger, giggles, tears or elation. I am such a mumbo-jumbo of feelings most of the time, that honestly if you were to ask me what kind of a mood I was in...I could probably give you at least 3 different answers (or colors on the mood chart). I am not sure why or what has caused me to be this way. Hopefully it is just a phase I am going through (like the phases my kids are constantly going through). Maybe it's a hormonal issue? I don't know. I just know that I really don't like it. I've noticed that I can be talking to one of my friends about some particular subject and be completely agreeing with everything she says...and then later...I can be talking to a different friend who is saying something very different about that same subject and I can totally agree with all the stuff she says too. It's not that I am lying to one or the other...I am being totally honest with both of them. It's just that my mood/feelings about said subject can differ so much at different times...that I actually agree with both of them. Does that make any sense? I know to a lot of people (namely my husband) none of that makes any sense....but surely there must be other women/mom's out there who can relate..!!??
Well, anyway, this is getting lengthy and Grant is waiting on me to play trucks with him...so I better go. Hope you all are having a happy last-day-of-2006!!

New Shoes! Matt's grandma, Nane, gives us each a $50 dollar bill in our stockings at Christmas. I have been wanting some shoes forEVER but haven't had the extra cash...so now thanks to her...I got to finally get my shoes! They are a little funky compared to what I usually wear...but my friend Teya is helping me figure out what is cool now. Thanks Nane and thanks Teya! Do you like them?

For Christmas, we gave Grant a Spider-Man costume. I had found it about a month after Halloween for $1.75 and I couldn't pass it up..even though it was a size 6-8. Well, since it was WAY too big for him, Brooklyn tried it on and it fit perfectly. Of course, we couldn't leave him without a costume..so he got to be the princess; which he was having quite fun with. But even in a princess costume...he's ALL boy. He was running wrecklessly through the house in this get-up (high-heeled shoes and all) and tripping and falling every other second...and cracking up. My silly kiddos!
Our BIG Christmas present (and I mean that literally)--an air hockey table. We just fininished putting it together and got it all set up. Matt beat me 10 to 5 our first game..but I plan to show'em what I've got later on! ha ha The kids love it already!

Brooklyn got ahold of the camera and took pictures of everyone. This one of my mom and me turned out okay so I thought I'd post it. This is my mom doing what she does EVERY single Christmas morning of my life---cooking a BIG yummy breakfast for everyone! Love you mom!!
My dad (a.k.a. "Santa"). He really surprised me this year by playing a song for me that I had never heard. He gave the CD to Matt but said it was about me. It was the song "I loved her first" by Heartland. Needless to say...I was in tears within seconds. What a special Christmas!
Grant got Thomas the Train jammies that he put on immediately and Brooklyn got a new robe...here they are showing them off.
A couple of my Christmas presents...the Cocoa~Latte from my mom and dad...the pretty candles from my friend, Teya.
My Christmas presents from Matt...a gorgeous "J" silver necklace from Kay's Jewler's and some ultra-cute, super-comfy slippers. He did GOOD this year! Thank you honey!

Duane, Laura (Matt's mom), Matt, Mamaw Ruth, Lindsay, and Cale (Tara & Larry that you can't really see) all playing Bible Mad Gab! So Fun!!
Lindsay and Cale (Matt's little brother). Thanks guys for letting us do Christmas at your house this year!
