II Chronicles 7:14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

God's Will...

I'm curious as to what you guys think about this.
I know it is ALWAYS God's will for our bodies to be well and healed. (I've listened to enough Keith Moore lately to have that engrained in my head! ha ha) I know that God is willing and able.
But...
When a person is in their mid 80's and diagnosed with cancer throughout their entire body---is it even realistic or right to believe for their healing? I mean...God does say we will all die eventually. Who's to say when it's our time?
I'm so confused on how I should be thinking and believing right now for my grandma. According to the doctors, the prognosis is bad. According to God's word---she can be healed. What should I be praying for???

I deal with the aging and dying in my work. My prayer for her and all my clients is that they would have peace and comfort in their last days, months, and/or years. it is called palliative care. She needs to be in the most comfortable place to her. It is the MOST selfless place for you to be as someone who loves this person watching them move on to another life. There is no easy answer...Yes, you should believe for her healing, but it may come in a different form than what you are expecting...xox,ash

Is it God's Will to heal 100% of the time, YES. But we have to have the knowledge and faith in that will ourselves to receive that healing. If we are begging for God to heal us, that won't work, we have already received it at the cross and must take it for ourselves. The other side is that WE ourselves also have a will. If cancer takes over and pain takes over and you begin to see the light of heaven a lot of people give in and go on over into glory. You have to prayer and agree with where your Grandma is at. If she is speaking that she will beat this cancer and will stay on this earth, then there your agreement lies. If she is tired and weary, you can still encourage her, but you can't force the will of the Father on anyone, they have to have the faith and take it themselves. So find out where she is at, encourage her none the less, and if she is ready to go home, pray that the transition will be peaceful, and that your hearts will be strengthened by God during this time. I thought beyond a shadow of a doubt that Raymond was staying on this earth, but the last time I saw him in the hospital, his eyes kept drifting off, as if heaven was the brighter light. He hurt, and the glory was too strong by then, so he left. Is he healed to this day, YES, but not in the way that those of us on earth thought it would happen. Agree with her how she is believing.

My dad was ill most of my life. I struggled with prayer that he would get better. A wise mentor told me this... "There will be healing, but it may be ultimate healing in heaven. Your prayer will be answered." Pray for God's will to be done and that he would receive glory throughout this situation. Difficult situations can create amazing opportunities for God to be made known. Pray that God would supply for all needs (peace, comfort, wisdom, encouragement, pain relief, healing, etc)

It's a difficult place to be, but God can do more than we can ask or imagine.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma. I'm not sure I have the best answer but I agree with Jenelle that you pray for all needs. And enjoy every moment you have with her. And reflect on what a full, wonderful life she has had to this point. 80 years is such a blessing.

First of all, I am so sorry to read that your grandma is so sick. I understand the pain that comes with seeing a loved one suffer so.

Like many others have said here . . . perhaps it's not a physical "healing" that God wills, but rather a spiritual healing for her . . . . which would most likely bring emotional healing for all of her loved ones, you included. We must trust the path God has laid out for us. While it may be hard to accept and embrace the current situation, that is what our Father is asking of you. I am praying for all of you - that your pain be healed. That your uncertainty finds clarity.
