II Chronicles 7:14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

I'm on the crazy train...

Okay, This is how bad I needed my kid to take a nap today: I actually bribed him to take a nap by putting him in bed with a handful of candy! Yes, I know....that is the way to get him to NOT fall asleep...but it was my only hope of even getting him into the crib--otherwise he'd have climbed out before I could have walked out of his room. I told him I'd only give him the candy if he'd stay in his bed. Of course...it still didn't work. He stayed in his bed long enough to eat the candy..and then he was up. Ugh! This is NOT the time to stop taking naps! Any suggestions on how to get your very tired 2-year-old to stay in his bed at naptime? I'm desperate...obviously!

I would say to just 'wait it out'...both of my kids went thru a stage around 2 yrs old where I was freaking out thinking they were done with naps...but they weren't. I would just put rules in place that say you can look at books or play with quiet toys in your bed and eventually they would start sleeping again. Logan is 5 and he still has a 2 hour rest period. About once a week or so he actually sleeps but mostly he just listens to a CD and lays down with books or coloring books or quiet toys. It's good for them to have that down time. Let us know how it all turns out.

We have a daily routine, where after lunch, we go lay down in bed and read a book. Then after the book is over, they know it is nap time, and they go to sleep. The reading always seems to calm them down, and then they start getting sleepy while laying there listening.
Plus I have found that taking them to the library to get new books also helps. The love having new books to read, and actually look forward to nap time or bed time, so we can read.
Good Luck Jen!
