II Chronicles 7:14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

being Naughty Is Nice sometimes

okay, I know that is a thought-provoking title that could mean many interesting things...but...All I'm really talking about is the fact that I SO should NOT be blogging right now...I SO should be working/packing/cleaning but I SO don't want to. This has been one loooooong day starting off with Brooklyn's school party. It actually went wonderfully despite the fact that Mazzio's lost the pizza order and I was 10 minutes late getting to the party. In addition, two of the mothers I had asked to send items for the party forgot...so we were without icing or sprinkles for our plain sugar cookies we were going to decorate. But all in all...it was great. We played hot potato with a potato I had painted up like Santa. I told the kids that since Santa has to get to everyone's house in only one night..he was in a big hurry. I played a Christmas CD for them to pass it around to and as each child got "out" they got to go and pick a gummy worm or fish from "Santa's Tackle Box". I had found that at Wal-Mart at the last minute and it was perfect...it looked like a real tackle box but with candy worms and fish. It helped the kids getting "out" not be too disappointed. When the game was all over, I let the "winner" keep the tackle box and all the rest of the candy inside of it. Such a simple game (hot potato) but kids LOVE it. Those of you with little kids should definitely try it at home. It will produce lots of giggles...guaranteed!
After the party, I began cleaning the house and doing laundry to prepare for our trip tomorrow. (We are going to our hometown to visit family for Christmas). It's crazy all the things I have to take into consideration before we leave on a trip. For instance, my kids only own a few select outfits that are really what I consider "nice" clothes...so I had to go through their dirty clothes baskets and be sure to get that stuff washed. I actually had to make Brooklyn take off the clothes she wore to school today so I could wash them and have them ready for our trip. I also had to be sure to return movies to the video store, get cash, get gas and take back books to the library. I have to be sure I have all the gifts we are taking ready, wrapped and labeled and be sure that we have plenty of juice and snacks for the drive. And that's just the tip of the iceberg... I know all you moms know what I am talking about!
Anyway, at the moment, I have a LOT of work to do (my actual work) and I really need to be getting that done so we can leave early tomorrow...but I just can't seem to make myself do it. I am just SO pooped. This is the first time I've really sat down today for more than a minute or two and it just feels so good to let my mind wander and not be "doing" any specific thing. Anyway, I guess I should at least go to bed if I am not goin to work so I can get up super early and do it. I probably won't be blogging much between now and Christmas, if at all...so you guys all have a Very Merry Christmas if I don't talk to you before then! I love you all! Thanks for loving me enough to read my long, boring posts!

We just got back from our trip to your home town. :)
I feel like we always have to take everything but the kitchen sink! haha Of course we had a wonderful time, and it was all worth the hassle of packing.

I love reading your blogs. You really get me thinking...and it is nice to know I am not the only one out there going through this stuff.

Have a safe trip!
Love ya girl,
Kandy
